Ari Tajonar, Culture Reporter
Hi! I’m Ari Tajonar, I’m a junior and this is my first year on The Journal. I’m very excited to be a part of the Culture section this year and see what lies ahead for the 2025-2026 school year! I’ve always loved writing, and taking Journalism last year completely opened my eyes to a whole new aspect of writing. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited for what amazing work gets produced this year! I love spending my free time listening to music–especially bands like Deftones, Radiohead and My Chemical Romance. I also enjoy the autumn weather, baking and exploring different forms of art. My favorite subjects in school have always been English, History or any Art classes. Once I was introduced to Journalism, it quickly became my top favorite. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to a great year and seeing everyone again next year!
Julie Sui, Culture Reporter
Hello, my name is Julie Sui. I’m a sophomore here at SHS, and this is my first year on The Journal as a Culture Reporter. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’m excited about joining The Journal, but I’m looking forward to creating connections with other writers, covering stories about people based on their cultural backgrounds and much more. Aside from that, I’m also a scholar for the Starfish Initiative, a non-profit organization that matches students with mentors to help them graduate from high school and move up towards a higher education, career and greater opportunities in life. During my spare time, I have a passion for drawing random characters from my mind and writing stories for them, listening to music that sounds good to my ears, reading manga and watching horror movies. Overall, I hope this year grows on me when I start writing for the Culture section.
