Trick-or-treat

Even with the virus, Halloween should still be celebrated

Trick-or-treat

Putting on a costume and having my makeup done is one of the most fun experiences of the year, and the thought of not being able to do that due to the coronavirus makes me a little sad.
Oct. 31, Halloween, is the day that I look forward to every year, along with hundreds of thousands of other people across the globe.
As long as people are wearing their masks and social distancing, I think that we should be able to go and celebrate Halloween.
Haunted houses, hayrides, pumpkin and apple patches, dress up parties and of course the candy are just some of the things that make this holiday so eventful and anticipated.
But, sadly, the pandemic had some other plans this year. There have been countless amounts of things that have been canceled, but Halloween will not be taken from us.
According to the Marion County Health Department, Halloween is still happening, but there are some things that are being taken into consideration.
There will be extra cops scouring neighborhoods from 6 to 8 on Halloween night.
Of course, there is no close- contact system put in place, and it is highly recommended that people do not go into an indoor party that has more than 50 people. That way, there is proper ventilation throughout the building, and it is not too crowded.
But I am not going to let coronavirus ruin my Halloween spirit.
I believe that Halloween will be a little different this year, but what hasn’t? As long as everyone listens and does not act too crazy, I think that this will be a great Halloween like any other.
Personally, I am going to dress up as Abby from NCIS and go trick-or-treating with my little brother, wearing a mask of course.
Indiana’s Governor, Eric Holcomb, says even he will be celebrating Halloween, but there will be no trick-or-treating at his house like there normally is, according to nwi.com.
Some think that we should not be able to celebrate the holiday at all. To some extent I agree, but it’s how someone celebrates the holiday that makes it wrong or not.
There is a difference between going trick-or-treating while social distancing and going to a party in a crowded house with more than 50 people.
If you decide to go out and celebrate the holiday, remember to be safe. Just because it’s a national holiday doesn’t mean everything is normal.
