On Sept. 20, the Lady Cards volleyball team steamrolled the Beech Grove Hornets in a crushing 3-0 win. This was also the Cards’ senior night, honoring seniors Hope Reynolds and Emily Galbraith, and their last home game before the Marion County tournament on Sept. 29.
In the first set, the Cards won 25 to 20. They had a better lead in the second set and won 25 to 11. In the third set, the Cards earned a good lead, then let up 10 points while being four points away from winning. They ended up winning the last set.
The Cards were dominating on the offensive side of the ball with junior Hailey Gonsiorowski leading the team with 19 kills and two aces. Sophomore Macy Chafin was just behind her with 15 kills and scoring 15 out 16 attempts.
Defense wise, senior Emily Galbraith had two blocks during the game. They also only let up 52 points compared to their 75 points. The Cards further their record to 7-10 while still holding a 0-2 record in conference games. The Lady Cards are back in action Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at Whiteland High School.
