The Journal Rewired

Gretchen Turner

Gretchen Turner, Reporter

Hi! My name is Gretchen Turner. I am a sophomore and I’m a news writer for The Journal. This is my first year on staff. Last year I took Intro to Journalism and I was instantly hooked. I knew The Journal was something I wanted to be a part of. Along with The Journal, I also play volleyball for SHS. I also enjoy watching baseball and collegiate volleyball. Some of my favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox (baseball) and Stanford University Cardinals (volleyball). In my free time, I play a lot of volleyball and I like reading. I also spend a lot of time with my family and friends, but you’ll see that in any introduction. More recently I’ve gotten into art, and I like to research pieces from the Renaissance--da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, etc. As busy as I am, I still enjoy just sitting and watching movies and shows. My favorite movie is “Back to the Future” and my favorite show at the moment is “Wandavision.” Other than my parents, I have one sister who is in fifth grade. She goes to Jeremiah Gray Elementary, however I went to Southport Elementary. I also have two dogs. Nigel is a 4-year-old sheltie. My younger dog, Ginsy, is a 2-year-old border collie mix. I’m excited for a new year but I’m more excited to start my career on The Journal!
