Gretchen Turner, News Editor
Hey there! I’m Gretchen Turner and this is my second year on staff. I was lucky enough to be on staff as both a News writer and the Opinion Editor last year. I can gladly say that this year I’m going to be the News Editor! I’m excited to go into this year with a new change of pace and learn the ups and downs of an entirely new section. I’ve got some awesome plans, and I’m excited to get to know my writers this year. Other than my devotion to The Journal, I’m participating in Spell Bowl this year, which I’m pretty excited about. Outside of school, I play volleyball during the winter. I also work as a hostess in a restaurant and I’m a volunteer at the Indianapolis Zoo. I love working at the Indianapolis Zoo because I get to hear all the top secret information about all the animals. For example, I got to pet a kangaroo that we have, and we have a new baby Cownose ray that I just adore. Other than all that stuff, there are four people in my family along with our two dogs. It’s me, my parents and then my sister who’s in sixth grade this year. My two dogs are named Nigel (5 years old) and Ginsy (just over 1 year old). I love how we came up with Ginsy’s name, because my dad wanted to name her Woof Bader Ginsburg and that was way too much to say, so now we have Ginsy. She’s so spoiled and loves to sleep in my bed. Well, I might as well call it her bed and I get to sleep in it. She’s not the best at sharing the space. After writing all that, I’m very excited for this year and I can’t wait for all of you to read some of our great work!
