Nathan Smith

Nathan Smith, Sports Editor

Hello! My name is Nathan Smith and I am now a senior at SHS. This is now my third year being on the wonderful staff of The Journal. However, this will be my very first year as a Sports Editor after being a staff writer for two years. I am very nervous to have to lead others from an unfamiliar position for the first time, but with that being said, I am also extremely happy to move up in the staff. Other than The Journal, I enjoy spending most of my time on a wrestling mat. I am now entering my twelfth year of wrestling, as well as my fourth and final year as a varsity wrestler at SHS. Last year, I ended off my season with a record of 29-7 and a 7th place finish at the IHSAA state tournament. When I am not wrestling or spending my time in The Journal or with the wonderful staff members, I enjoy spending my time either cooking, running or just sitting down and relaxing. I believe that mental health is just as important, if not more important, than physical health so I spend lots of time trying to better myself in both. I am extremely excited to finally get back to my regular life for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The players must wear masks when they sit on the bench, but they can take them off when they enter the game. This helps with contact tracing if a player test positive.
