The Journal Rewired

Owen Hodges

Owen Hodges, Section Managing Editor

Hey, It’s Owen Hodges back again for my third and final year as a Managing Editor. Last year, I was Features Editor, and the year before that I was a News Reporter. Other than The Journal, I’m a section leader for the trumpet section in the Marching Band, a member of the Jazz Band and a member of National Honors Society. Outside of school, I’ve been a member of honor bands, an honor jazz band and I’m an at-large member of the IHSPA (Indiana High School Press Association) Student Board. After high school, I plan on going to college for Biology, Molecular Biology or Neuroscience. After that, I plan on pursuing a career in teaching, dentistry or research science. I’m an extremely indecisive person. In my free time, I like reading, watching TV or hanging out with friends. My current favorite TV shows are “Law and Order: SVU” and “New Girl.” I’m not a huge movie person, mostly because my attention span is that of a goldfish, but every once in a while I’ll watch a horror movie. Why I subject myself to those movies, I’ll never know. I also enjoy collecting LEGOS and vinyl records, however my salary at On The Border doesn’t exactly allow for it that often. Even though I have all these weird hobbies, The Journal and band are basically my entire life and personality, and I’m at peace with that. My last year on The Journal is extremely bitter sweet, but I’m very excited to continue producing the great work we always do.
