Sophia McKinney, Editor-In-Chief
Hello! Wow, I can’t believe this is my third time writing my staff bio. From an awkward freshman with a cat backpack to a vibrant senior, time has flown by. Looking back I had no idea that the podium in Room 400 would soon be my spot of leadership. It’s an honor to say that I am the Editor-In-Chief of The Journal this school year. Words can’t describe how crazy last school year was with the pandemic and adjusting to a new, temporary lifestyle. Amidst all the chaos, I found inner peace with myself. That’s always been one of my goals. Aside from The Journal, I’ve developed a newly found interest in yoga. I started going to a small, local studio near my house with my mom last year. I felt safe and the love for myself grew tremendously. Who knew that staying in a down dog position could make you feel so content and relaxed. I also enjoy practicing gratitude, something I hope to incorporate this year in The Journal. Every morning and night I write down five things I’m grateful for. I continue this practice by mentally noting things that I appreciate each day whether it be the ladybug on my car to the downpour of rain outside my window. It really is the little things that count. The Journal has so many little parts and the end result is what everyone looks at, but the tight-knit family we create each year beats it all. I’m so excited to work with this amazing group of people and learn more about myself along the way.
